LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, USA & INDIA
Anchal was founded in 2010 on the belief that design can be a catalyst for social and environmental innovation. They utilize design thinking, creating innovative and strategic solutions to tackle social inequality faced by women along with the environment damages created by the industrialized textile system.

Anchal partners with NGOs in both India and their hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to provide jobs in design and eco-friendly textile production to exploited women. The women are empowered through skills and design training, health benefits, education workshops and financial security. They design beautiful, handmade pieces and are able to support themselves and their families through safe and dignified employment. Starting with just 15 women, Anchal now supports over 130 artisans in India and employs 3 women in Kentucky.

Anchal’s team uses creativity and innovation to revolutionize the traditional India embroidery technique of Kantha for the contemporary market, thus creating original, high quality products made from eco-friendly fabrics.
