Slow North started in 2015 as a side hustle for Michelle Simmons, as she was on her maternity leave. She and her husband, Jon, wanted to detox their home of chemicals and decided to start hand-pouring candles using only essential oils. From there, she started going to small pop-up markets and the business began to grow. Their studio quickly grew from a backyard operation to a full storefront and studio space in north central Austin in 2017 to their now off-site production studio, which they moved into in March 2020. And their product offering has also expanded.
Slow North creates all-natural, botanical goods made with careful consideration to complement simple, whole living. The company’s core values and dedication to clean living serve as daily reminders to be present and enjoy the little moments we share.
