Baleen

Owners and designers, Leah and Billy, started Baleen in 2013 from their shared passion for well-designed, thoughtful and beautiful objects and belief that quality, handmade jewelry can be affordable and responsible.

Nearly all of the metals that are used to make their jewelry come from a recycled source. Whether it be a stud earring, a jump-ring on a necklace or the plating that is on a bracelet, they’ve worked to source recycled and responsible materials. Their production studio in Seattle, Washington is a zero-waste facility. Baleen takes great effort and pride in making sure that materials that are normally considered unusable by manufacturers find their way into hands of those who will use them. Whether it be recycling their scrap metals, sending small bits of gold that we have gathered for years to be re-processed, or donating components to local schools who teach jewelry classes.

Baleen truly takes a stance to clean up a messy industry, one piece of handmade jewelry at a time.
